Spritz & Co + Italian Wine Connection: Why We’ve Become TROPPO BUONO Imports

Spritz & Co and Italian Wine Connection are becoming TROPPO BUONO Imports: one Australian destination for 800+ Italian food, wine and spirits products across retail and wholesale.
Spritz & Co + Italian Wine Connection: Why We’ve Become TROPPO BUONO Imports

For years, we were running two businesses that were increasingly becoming the same business.

Spritz & Co was where Australians came to shop for the Italian products they missed, remembered, discovered on holiday or simply couldn’t find at their local supermarket.

Italian Wine Connection was working behind the scenes, importing and supplying Italian wines and spirits to restaurants, bars, hotels and retailers across Australia.

Different names. Different customers.

Same warehouse. Same family. Same obsession with finding things that are simply too good not to share.

So we decided it was time to bring everything together.

Welcome to TROPPO BUONO Imports.

What does “Troppo Buono” mean?

Literally, troppo buono means “too good”.

But Italians rarely leave it at that. It is what you say when you taste something and immediately want the person beside you to try it.

Assaggia questo. È troppo buono.

Try this. It’s too good.

That feeling is essentially how both Spritz & Co and Italian Wine Connection started. We would find a wine, an amaro, a pasta, a biscuit or some obscure regional specialty that we loved and think: why can’t we get this properly in Australia?

Eventually the answer became: fine, we’ll bring it ourselves.

That hasn’t changed. The name finally has.

How Spritz & Co started

Spritz & Co began in 2019 with a much simpler idea: spritz.

Before the online store, before the warehouse shelves filled with pasta and biscuits, and before thousands of parcels began travelling across Australia, we started with an Italian spritz bar.

From there, the range grew. Italian aperitivo products led to pantry staples. Pantry staples led to products customers remembered from Italy. Then came gluten-free food, specialty brands, wine, spirits and products that were surprisingly difficult to find in Australia.

Over time, Spritz & Co became much more than a spritz business. It grew into one of Australia’s broadest online stores dedicated to Italian products.

And increasingly, we weren’t just buying products from Australian distributors. We were importing them ourselves.

Italian Wine Connection was doing the same thing in another world

Italian Wine Connection grew from our work with Italian wine producers and the Australian hospitality industry.

We built relationships directly with wineries and distilleries, imported their products and introduced them to restaurants, bottle shops, hotels and other venues around Australia.

Some were established Italian names. Others were producers almost nobody here had heard of.

And that was often the fun part.

A bottle doesn’t suddenly become good because the label is famous. Some of the wines we get most excited about are made from grapes many Australians have never encountered before, from producers without huge marketing budgets, in parts of Italy most tourists drive straight past.

Our job has always been to find the good stuff first. Then convince someone to taste it.

Eventually, having two brands stopped making sense

The lines had become increasingly blurry.

Italian Wine Connection was supplying more than wine. Spritz & Co was importing and expanding its offering. Retail customers were buying wine alongside Italian food. Wholesale customers were asking us about pasta, gluten-free products and pantry lines.

The same team was dealing with suppliers in Italy, receiving containers, running the warehouse and distributing products around Australia.

Behind the scenes, there wasn’t really a Spritz & Co world and an Italian Wine Connection world anymore.

There was one business. It just had two names.

So rather than keep building two separate identities, we decided to build one stronger one.

TROPPO BUONO brings more than 800 Italian products under one roof

TROPPO BUONO is now Australia’s largest online destination for Italian food, wine and spirits, bringing together 800+ active products across retail and wholesale.

That range spans everyday pantry staples, pasta, sauces, biscuits, confectionery, coffee, baking ingredients, preserves and beverages, alongside Italian wine, Prosecco, amari, grappa, liqueurs, spirits and beer.

It also includes 125+ gluten-free products and 130+ wines, spirits and aperitivi.

Some products are available to retail customers online. Others are reserved for licensed venues, retailers and other wholesale customers. Together, they make up the wider TROPPO BUONO catalogue.

Italian food

The products you actually find in Italian kitchens and pantries — from pasta, sauces and biscuits to baking ingredients, antipasti, preserves, coffee and regional specialties.

There are familiar names, but also products that deserve to be better known in Australia.

Gluten-free Italian food

Gluten-free has become an increasingly important part of what we do. Our active range now includes more than 125 gluten-free products, including specialist Italian brands such as NutriFree and Massimo Zero alongside other gluten-free products sourced from Italy.

Italy happens to be exceptionally good at gluten-free food. We intend to make a lot more of it available here.

Italian wine

Not just the predictable bottles.

We want to continue introducing Australia to regional producers, indigenous Italian grape varieties and wines that offer genuinely good value.

That can mean Prosecco and Pinot Grigio. It can also mean Cannonau from Sardinia, Incrocio Manzoni from Veneto or a wine you’ve never heard of until one of us insists you try it.

Spirits, amari and liqueurs

Grappa, limoncello, amaro, cream liqueurs and the wonderfully strange bottles that make an Italian back bar considerably more interesting.

Our drinks range is no longer a small add-on to an Italian grocery store. Across the wider retail and wholesale catalogue, TROPPO BUONO carries more than 130 wines, spirits and aperitivi.

We’re importers first — and that matters

One of the biggest advantages of bringing the businesses together is that TROPPO BUONO isn’t simply another online store buying from the same pool of Australian wholesalers.

We import.

That gives us the opportunity to work directly with producers, search for products that aren’t already everywhere and introduce ranges to Australia ourselves.

It also means we can serve both sides of the market.

A customer might discover a bottle through our website. A restaurant might put the same wine on its list. An independent supermarket might stock the pasta. A health-food store might take the gluten-free range.

That creates something broader than a conventional online Italian grocery store: one business connecting Italian producers with Australian households, hospitality venues and retailers.

So, is Spritz & Co disappearing?

The name is changing. The reason people shopped with us isn’t.

The same people are still behind the business. The same obsession with Italian food and drink is still here.

TROPPO BUONO gives us more freedom to do what Spritz & Co had gradually been doing anyway: go searching for exceptional products and bring them to Australia.

The difference is that now the name actually fits the business we’ve become.

And what about Italian Wine Connection?

Italian Wine Connection has become TROPPO BUONO Imports.

Our relationships with customers, producers and suppliers continue under the new brand. For wholesale customers, the change also gives us a much broader proposition.

Instead of speaking to us only about wine and spirits, retailers, restaurants and specialty stores can increasingly source Italian food, gluten-free products and beverages from the same importer.

TROPPO BUONO by the numbers

Catalogue snapshot — October 2026

  • 800+ active products across retail and wholesale
  • 130+ wines, spirits and aperitivi
  • 125+ gluten-free products
  • Retail delivery across Australia
  • Wholesale supply to hospitality and retail customers

Our range changes continuously as products arrive, sell through and new producers join the portfolio, so those figures are stated as minimums.

What comes next

More direct imports. More regional Italian producers. A larger specialty and gluten-free range. More products you haven’t seen in every other shop.

And probably a few things that make you wonder why on earth we’ve imported them — right up until you taste them.

Because that was the original idea behind both Spritz & Co and Italian Wine Connection.

Find something brilliant. Bring it here. Then tell everyone:

You have to try this. È troppo buono.
